Here Are Four Things For Your Best Health
These four things for your best health are nothing new but, somewhere in the frenzy of diets and this recommendation and that, the foundation of good health gets lost. I found this cute video from Harvard Medical School, Four rules for healthy living, that basically sums things up. I shall expand a little bit on these four things for your best health.
Number One Of The Four Things For Your Best Health Is Nutrition
1. Diet: To begin, one of the four things for your best health is a nutritious diet. Back before all our food was processed and our food didn’t need heavy pesticides, having a nutritious diet was easier, I believe. I am sure some things are better with our advances, but many times even foods we think are healthy may cause risk. For example, our fruits and vegetables maybe laden with unhealthy pesticides or simply picked too early in order to get them to market without spoiling, thus missing out on the full potential of nutrition.
Too much convenience food, processed food, fats, sodium and sugar. There are a variety of reasons why the typical diet is less than ideal. It takes a truly concentrated effort to eat healthy on a daily consistent basis. That’s why I drink a well balanced, cellular nutrition based shake every day, so I can be sure I am getting the nutrition my body needs each day. It takes some of the stress out of planning and shopping. Take time to find what you can do consistently to improve your nutrition on a daily basis.
And The Other Three Things For Your Best Health …
2. Exercise: You hear it all the time. Do this, don’t do this. Do this diet, do this exercise and then some research comes along that says don’t do that. It really does come back to the basics. A nutritious diet and exercise are on the top of the list and that has never changed. It is the true building blocks of obtaining your best health possible for the long haul. Getting exercise doesn’t mean you have to necessarily work out until you are sweating buckets. Just consistent moderate exercise can make a huge difference. If you are limited due to physical mobility concerns, than find what ever activities you can do safely and do those. If you don’t do anything, your body will tend to decondition. Also, a good exercise plan is good for stress management, which is also good for health.
3. Healthy Habits: The Harvard video say hygiene, but basically, the point is to take care of yourself with healthy habits. Don’t smoke, don’t drink alcohol heavily and don’t do drugs. Keep yourself clean, inside and out. Stress management is important too. I consider this a healthy habit. Drinking plenty of water and getting adequate sleep.
4. Rest: Getting adequate sleep is important. It could be considered in the healthy habit category, but I have included it here as well. Many of us struggle through our day with less than adequate sleep, so we are never really rejuvenated. This can set up other potential health concerns, such as eating more and unhealthy choices in our diet in an effort to perk us up during the day. This can lead to decreased nutrition, obesity and further health problems.
