Have Extra Time? Want Extra Money Working From Home?
When you have extra time and want extra money, but working from home, where do you go? There are an enormous amount of work from home jobs and opportunities presented online. Many are very legitimate, but I read a statistic that for every 1 that is legitimate, there are 40 that are not so much. You do need to do your due diligence.
Using your extra time to make extra money working from home can come from more your own thing, but it could also be part of a legitimate company. There are actually a growing number of companies using home based workers. For some, they prefer to be part of an established company than forge their own path.
People are making not only extra money from home, but some are making a full-time salary. Below are some ideas and companies that have shown some credibility as they have been around a while.
Offering a Service
This is probably not new to anyone, but if you have education or experience in a particular area, you may be able to “set up shop” and offer those on an independent contract basis. If you are not sure how or don’t want to spend all your time marketing your service, there is Fiverr. There you can offer a variety of services, whether your skill set is very specific or general, there is probably someone out there looking for it. There are so many services that people advertise there, I suggest you check it out for yourself and see if that might be the right place for you to get started. People offer a service for $5, hence the name Fiverr, but then you can also offer other services, which are more than $5.
If you are kind of a techie type person, you might check out Elance. It is sort of the opposite of Fiverr, in that, companies post what they need done, maybe it is website help or graphics help and freelancers bid on those jobs. If your bid is chosen, then you pay Elance a commission of 4 to 6 percent of what you earn.
Specific Service or Education
Similar to the service offering above, maybe you have a degree in a particular field, which could allow you to work from home. This list is increasing, butI have found a company called Fonemed, which if you are a registered nurse, could allow you to provide phone-based triage and medical information to customers in Canada and the U.S. This is typically evenings, nights and weekend work. You would answer patient questions that come up during non-office hours.
Using Your Expertise To Help Others
Again, if you have a specific expertise or education, you may be able to be on the Just Answer team. This is a site where people come to get information on a particular subject. It could be a medical question, raising kids, computer, financial or car repair question, etc. If you have a lot of knowledge in a particular subject, you could become part of this community of experts. If you are working on your computer all day anyway, this might be a source for extra money. It is expected that you will answer a person’s question within at least an hour’s time. You will need to prove your credentials before being included in this community of experts.
There are a surprising amount of people, ranging from young kids to even older adults that need tutoring. If you are especially smart or educated in a particular subject, there may be extra money for you helping someone else. This can be offered online or off. Even if you don’t have a college degree, but are particularly smart in a specific subject, you may be able to help someone. For example, if you are math whiz, but maybe not advanced math, you still may be able to help certain people who are struggling with basic math, etc. Check out Tutor.com .
Maybe customer service is your thing. There are a growing number of companies hiring work from home representatives. You can search a reliable job listing source, such as Indeed, to find work from home customer service opportunities as well as non-work from home jobs in customer service. There are also online companies that act as sort of a broker to companies all around the world who are looking for customer service help. Companies such as Alpine Access , Working Solutions or Live Ops. Some companies even offer benefits. I do not have any experience with these companies, but you can check them out to see if they might fit what you are looking for.
There are many people out there with special creative talents. Maybe you knit, make jewelry or birdhouses, etc. Etsy is an online site that focuses on handmade items. You can have your own store on the site and similar to Ebay, you will pay a small listing fee and a small commission when the item sells, typically 3-5%.
There are also some other options, one is for just jewelry makers, which allows you to list for free if you have enough items, which is Jewelry Wonder . No transaction fees either. For the artists out there, you might check out Art Fire. There are others who are earning extra money selling Ebay. You can pretty much sell anything there. There are listing fees and commission fees when your item sells.
